Starting from now, I am going to report the development status of the next camstick releases via twitter. It's easier to keep you informed about the progress. If you are interested in this stuff, follow camstick with your twitter client!

Unfortunately, I have to tell you that the next version will be released in summer. The 3 weeks in the last article were too short finishing the next version.

Hi all! Today I am going to deliver insight into the next version 1.1 of camstick. Some new features of the new version are shown in the screenshot, so you can speculate about what's comming up next!

The version is not finished yet. I can't tell you when you can download the new one, because secondary I have to study, a little ;-). I guess it takes about 2 or 3 weeks!

By the way, many of you asked me about the games in the camstick video. Here they are!

maclife.de wrote a short article about camstick with a wonderfull fruity subtitle, which is called "Eine Banane als Joystick". Thanks to the editorial office and to the BETA-testers for the feedbacks.

I also received some bug reports. In the next few days i am going to fix the bugs and do some optimizations. The next version is on the way!

Welcome to the project page of camstick. At first, what is camstick exactelly? camstick is a symbiosis of camera and joystick to symbolize the use of your webcam for interacting with your computer other than simple video chats. Camstick emerged from a project work of mine at the Stuttgart Media University. And now i want to share my result with you!

Currently you are able to download the first BETA version of camstick. I am going to upgrade the system bit by bit, so check your version regular with the "Check for Update..." function. Have fun!

I would be happy about some feedbacks. Have fun with camstick! It's absolutely free!

greetings
Andi
Camstick emerged from a project work of mine at the Stuttgart Media University. My target was to develop a java-based software solution, which is detecting objects over a webcam and modify these to controls.

The target was the development of the object detection algorithms and the interpretation of the obtained data by my own in 3 months. After this timeframe, camstick was born. For the object detection were used absolutely no precast libraries. Now you can download my result! Have fun!

how to use camstick

  • prepare your object: use an object with an almost uniform color (the BETA-version uses color based object detection)
  • prepare your environment: in the optimal case your envirnoment should not contain the object color!
Hold your object in a marker point. If the message "hold on" appears, don't move your object for 2 seconds. After that, enjoy! In the help menubar you will find more infos.
If your marker on the screen is going crazy, switch between two modules (X, Y) for reloading. It's just a BETA version, so don't worry about some bugs. I am working on the problems.
